FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What do BW and DL stand for?
-BW is a Buster Welch tree most commonly used in cowhorse, cutting and ranch cutting saddles. It refers to the shape of the swells, not a specific fit or set of measurements. BW trees fit your average built cowhorses very well. They’ll fit a ton of horses if they have a decent back and withers.
-DL is a Donn Leson tree that is most commonly used in cowhorse and reining saddles. The thicker, rounded or mutton withered horses usually work better with the DL tree.
Cowhorse v. Cutting v. Ranch Cutting Saddles – What is the difference?
-In general, cowhorse saddles are deeper seated than cutters and ranch cutters. The seats are similar in cutters and ranch cutters.
-For our cutters, we build them with more rise in the seat so they are cowhorse friendly. They have a straight cutter horn.
-Ranch cutters are better for lighter roping. Â They also have stouter bars than the cowhorse or cutter. They have a Texas Dally horn.
-We have two cowhorse models: BW and DL. Both cowhorse models are good for light roping.  The BW is more secure with a deeper seat. The DL has a lower and more laid back cantle and slightly lower, rounder front end.
Can you rope out of your saddles?
-In our Cowhorse and Ranch Cutters, you can do light roping, which includes branding, steer stopping and roping in versatility.
